Description
Recognized as the modern official bullion coin of the Mexican government, the Gold Libertad was first struck in 1981. It was reminted in 1991 and has been produced annually since 2002. Gold Libertads are known for their low bullion coin mintages, making it challenging to find backdated coins and adding to their collectibility. Initially, the gold bullion coins were minted in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1/4 oz sizes; the offerings lineup now includes 1/10 oz and 1/20 oz options. The Silver Libertad receives its design from the historical Centenario coin, which celebrated the 100th anniversary of Mexico’s independence from Spain.
