American Gold Eagles
The American Gold Eagles are made in four denominations that contain 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz of gold. The obverse features a modified rendition of the Augustus Saint-Gaudens design used on the U.S. twenty-dollar gold pieces from 1907 until 1933. This series has run from 1986 to the present date in both an Uncirculated and Proof finish, providing diversity for both the collector and investors alike.
History of American Gold Eagles
First introduced in 1986, the American Eagle Coin Program was designed to provide investors with high-quality bullion coins backed by the U.S. government. The program initially began with Gold and Silver Eagles but has since expanded to include both Platinum and Palladium Eagle coins.
The obverse of the American Gold Eagle showcases August Saint-Gaudens’ legendary Liberty design, striding forward with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing enlightenment and peace. Since 2021, the reverse has featured a striking new portrait of a bald eagle, further reinforcing the coin’s tribute to American heritage and strength.
Beyond their numismatic appeal American Gold Eagles offer a practical way for investors to diversity their portfolios with precious metal. Gold Eagles are available in four sizes:
- 1 oz
- 1/2 oz
- 1/4 oz
- 1/10 oz
The various weights offer options for both seasoned investors and those new to gold ownership.
