Known for his bravery and leadership, Leonidas I led a small but elite force of Spartan warriors against the vast Persian army at the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BCE. Through strategic positioning and unwavering discipline, he and his men held off the invaders, exemplifying the Spartan code of valor and sacrifice. Though he fell in battle, his heroism became a symbol of resistance and inspired future generations in the defense of Greek independence.
