The State of Colorado mandates the imposition of sales taxes on certain items sold by Pinehurst Coins and shipped to a Colorado address. It is imperative to collect these taxes on  (1) copper products; (2) certain numismatic coins and bullion; (3) accessory items; and (4) processed items.  All other products sold by Pinehurst Coins are exempt from these taxes.

The ensuing definitions pertain to products subject to tax collection in Colorado:

• Certain Numismatic Coins and Bullion.  Non-monetary precious metal coins and bullion, whether unused or never intended for circulation as currency or mediums of exchange within the United States or a foreign country.
• Accessory Items.  Items such as holders, tubes, coin flips, and apparel.
• Processed Items.  Refined precious metals transformed by third parties into objects esteemed for qualities beyond their metal value, such as colorized coins or statues.

In Colorado, Pinehurst Coins is obligated to charge a Colorado Retail Delivery Fee of $0.28 on every order subject to sales tax that’s delivered to a Colorado address via motor vehicle. Prior to July 1, 2023, this fee was $0.27. Sales taxes in Colorado and the Colorado Retail Delivery Fee are calculated at checkout on the Pinehurst Coins website based on (1) the taxation status of items vended by Pinehurst Coins in Colorado as delineated earlier, and (2) the particular tax rates set by the taxing jurisdiction at the delivery location in Colorado.

Pinehurst Coins began collecting sales taxes in Colorado on May 1, 2024.  Our state sales tax license number in Colorado is 96278170.

If you operate as a Colorado-based reseller and intend to submit a Reseller Certificate to Pinehurst Coins, please get in touch with us at [email protected]. After we’ve received your filled-out Reseller Certificate, we’ll input it into our system. As long as your Reseller Certificate remains valid and active, you will not incur any sales taxes on future orders.
